Make A Poster
How to Make a Poster with Your Computer
Before there was a computer in just about every home, having to make a poster for homework was a huge chore. You had to buy poster paper and other supplies, find the correct map, chart, or muscle system in a book, copy it by hand, measure and carefully print the headline and other text, than color it all in with crayons or markers or poster paint. Now, thanks to a computer, you would only have to make a poster that way for history class.
Your Supplies
First, run to the store and buy a piece of poster paper, and then you' re done. In fact, if the assignment allows for a poster that doesn' t have to be displayed in the classroom, you don' t even need the paper. You can do on the computer and leave it there.
There are several ways to make a poster on the computer. The simplest way is to collect your information and graphics from the internet and print them out. Cut everything out and glue it to the poster board. You may want to add color if you have a black and white printer. The pictures will be perfect, the text will be perfect, and the headline will be perfect.
If the assignment is for a graphic design class, you might have to do better than that, though. Design your poster with whatever software you are learning and print it out on the size paper determined by the assignment.
To make a poster that is poster-sized, you will need a large printer and the correct paper. If there are resources like that in your school, your teacher will let you know. If not, you can burn your poster to a CD and take it to a printing company or an office supply store. It can be pricey to print a large poster, so find out if it' s necessary.
Your Software
Unless the assignment mentions a specific type of design software, you have a wide selection available. The program you are most likely to have already is PowerPoint. Use a blank slide and set the size you will need. Add headlines, text and graphics where you like without a template.
A search engine will find online resources that will enable you to make a poster and pay them to print and deliver it. This is a great idea if your poster is for advertising or for a party. A funny wanted poster is a great party decoration.
However you make a poster on your computer, remember that if it' s for a school assignment, make sure that you don' t copy and paste the text. If you think a computer makes it easy to make a poster, you should see how easy a computer makes it to spot plagiarism.
