Great Places to Find Your Next Antique Collectible

For those looking to buy a piece of history, an antique collectible is just the thing one should be looking for. Antique collectibles can be found almost anywhere, but the two best places to find an interesting antique collectible are antique shops and yard sales.

The Antique Shop: An Obvious Place to Find a Great Antique Collectible

The first place a person may go to in search of the perfect antique collectible is an antique shop. The interesting thing about antique shops is that because they are exclusively for the purpose of buying antiques, finding a valuable antique collectible can be a rather daunting task. After all, antique shops come by their inventory when someone wants to part with a piece of their family history, and people are never willing to part with something that is known to be especially valuable.

However, there are those antiques that come into a shop' s possession after their owner has died and is without any relative or close acquaintance to leave their possessions to. These are the antique collectibles a person should look for in an antique shop. If a particular item stands out to the buyer, the buyer should enquire as to where it came from. If one hears the phrase estate sale included as part of the description, then the buyer might be on the right track.

The Yard Sale: A Little-Known Place to Find Unique Antique Collectibles

The great thing about yard sales is that because the sellers are eager to get rid of what they think might be old junk, they do not really think to check on the actual value of antiques they are selling. Thus, they might be selling a vase for ten dollars when it is in fact worth close to a thousand. The meticulous antique collector should always keep on the lookout for a potentially great buy.

If one already has an antique collectible that they think might be worth some money, the best thing to do is to go and have it appraised. One could always wait for Antiques Roadshow to come to a city near them, or they can find an appraiser locally or on the Internet. The collector should be prepared to hear good news or bad news. Actually, in the end, price really should not matter, because if the collector loves the look of the antique, then it is truly worth something. After all, an antique that has many happy memories attached to it is priceless.

Composing George Winston Style
If you're a fan of New Age piano, no doubt you've listened to some of George Winston's music. What I find fascinating about his songs is how he creates them. Most improvisers/composers start with the melody, usually because it's the .....
