Over 200 patents are credited to his accomplishment of this vision. His most famous invention was developed in 1907 after he watched his mother cleaning dust from the rugs within the home. He noticed that the dust would resettle on to the rugs. Through a series of adjustments a finalized invention would capture dirty air. This air would be filtered through a fabric bag. A vacuum cleaner was born.
Eventually, the Kirby vacuum cleaner company became part of the Scott Fetzer Company with oversight ties to Warren Buffett.
