I had topped my class in 10th grade and I was very happy about my achievement. So, after finishing school I applied for a Science College and planned to be a doctor one day. Sandy was a dream come true - and I was naïve enough to think that this was life for me. I would become a doctor, marry Sandy who had gotten a seat in mechanical engineering - and we would live happily ever after.

However, it was not to be this way. Just six month after my joining College, my parents announced that they were getting a divorce. My sister and I were devastated. And then in Physics (a subject I always dreaded) came the lesson on gas flow meters. I remember it vividly because I was so not ready for it. With the divorce playing at the back of my mind, the lecture of the Physics professor was like Chinese for me. I just could not grasp what he was trying to say on the gas flow meter subject. That mid-semester I failed at Physics; first time in my life I had ever failed. It felt like I failed in everything and my life was over. That was when I cut my wrists and wanted to die. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I was discovered by my sister and was saved. But that was the end of my science career, my becoming a doctor dreams, and even Sandy. I felt that I was not ready for a relationship anymore.
That was how a gas flow meter changed my life. That is why I will never forget this term!
