Wine Gifts The Interesting History behind Aluminum Club CookwareWine Gifts are Best Suited for Special Occasions The wine gift is an ideal choice for presenting someone that is dear with a bottle of wine, especially on ..... The Club Aluminum Company was started in the early 1900' s as an aluminum kitchen utensil company. The products were sold door to door by salesmen who would invite the woman of the house to host a luncheon using the Club Aluminum cookware and products. The company would foot the bill for the event as a way to get women to try out the products. Unfortunately, this business plan proved to be an expensive endeavor that did not fare well once the Great Depression hit. Within a few years, the company stockholders turned control of the company over to a new president, Herbert John Taylor. Taylor left his post as vice president of Jewel Tea Company to revive the then floundering Club Aluminum Company. Herbert John Taylor used the Club Aluminum Company to create a code of ethics that became known as The Four Way Test. This test consisted of four questions: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? This code virtually fixed the ailing Club Aluminum Company, and within 20 years, the organization was able to get out of debt, reward stockholders with ample dividends and boast a $2 million net worth. Club Aluminum cookware was back on the shelves of many kitchens throughout the United States. The Four Way Test was adopted and used by other companies and organizations throughout the country as well. Aluminum Club Cookware Today Today, you can still find Club Aluminum cookware through dealers on the internet or in second-hand shops. The pots and pans come in a variety of styles and colors, and many are still in good enough condition to be used today. Newer Club Aluminum cookware was redesigned just before the turn of the century to make the products more efficient for stirring and pouring. The more recent Club Aluminum cookware came with thick, flat bottoms for even heating and a non-stick finish on the interior of the pots and pans. The cookware was designed to be very compatible with the smooth top glass and ceramic stoves. Club Aluminum products are now part of the Mirro Company, but the traditional Club Aluminum Cookware can still be found through dealers of second-hand products. Because of the wide variety of styles and colors, many collectors are always on the hunt for additional pieces of Club Aluminum cookware to add to their collections. With a little research and some hunting, you can find these products in their original state, and many people still use the items for their daily cooking. Club Aluminum has left a legacy - not only in manufacturing a high quality of cookware products, but also in the fair way that the company chose to do business. |
